- What is the Butch Femme Dance Hall?
The Butch Femme Dance Hall is a group of Butches and Femmes who have come together under the umbrella of appreciation for the dance that takes place between them. We are a social online community, a support group, a circle of friends, and a family. We are not politically correct and we are not particularly politically active. We also are not politically inactive and we can be down right PC. We are all labels yet no labels at all. We are what you make of us, yet we defy anyone to define us and put us into a box. - How did the Butch Femme Dance Hall come into existence?
The Butch Femme Dance Hall started out as Cal and Stars Dance Hall on MSN. It was one of many groups that formed when MSN got rid of their formal chat rooms in favor of groups. It was formed in October of 2001, and still exists. Going back to chat room times, some members have known each other since 1997 or even further back.
In July of 2007 the idea was suggested of moving the Butch Femme Dance Hall to a more independent site, as well as a domain of it's own; and thus The Butch Femme Dance Hall was born in it's most recent incarnation.
- How is the Butch Femme Dance Hall's member base comprised?
We have a very diverse membership. Female and Male identified Butches, FtMs, Femmes of all variety from High to Soft; and androgynous women as well. Basically we take everyone who embraces the dance between Butches and Femmes. The chemistry, the charge, the romance... and let's face it, the challenges and frustrations as well. If this sounds like you - and you're an adult of at least 18 years of age - we would love to count you in our ranks!
- How do you join The Butch Femme Dance Hall?
If you're interested in joining the Butch Femme Dance Hall community go to the Forum (http://bfdancehall.com/Forum) to register. Please note we do have requirements for registration! In the "Signature" field* please provide us with your Age, How You ID** (Butch, Femme, Neither, Both, etc), and why you'd like to join our community. If these items are not provided, your membership application will be deleted and you will NOT be notified. This being said, all applications are normally processed within a week so if you have not been notified of membership in that time, you may want to consider reapplying being careful to supply the requested information.
*The signature field will be erased when your account is activated.
**ID is requested for Group purposes. Members have access to groups based on ID.
